Design-nirvana

  1. You don’t need to sell the benefits of UX.  Instead, you’re planning how to measure the benefits.
  2. You have support from above and below, internally & externally (if you’re an agency).
  3. You report into someone’s who’s got your back.  They may not understand exactly what you do, but they respect your recommendations and advocate for it. 
  4. You have your own budget to work with: to build the team’s expertise; career development; the right tools & equipment etc.
  5. Design’s invited to all key meetings, without needing to wrangle for an invite.
  6. Design’s is expected to contribute to all strategy sessions.
  7. You’re not required to use the same old tools everytime – you have the freedom to explore new options when it makes sense.
  8. You’re given opportunities to innovate – whether it’s process, techniques or product or all of the above.
  9. UX is integrated into the overall development process.
  10. Marketing understands what UX does, and where there are similarities, affinities and differences.
